Now that Altria runs a webcast of its annual meeting, very few reporters bother to attend it in person, which has cut down on the media coverage of those in attendance who oppose the companies' worldwide practices. A couple news stories were generated based on Altria CEO Louis Camilleri's remark that, "We remain as committed as ever to meaningful enhance long-term shareholder value. Over the next several months, we will continue to carefully and diligently examine the benefits of a spin-off of Philip Morris International, and other possible value enhancing options to decide the optimal long-term strategic course we will follow. Once a decision has been made, we will promptly communicate it."
